Not only a beautiful and scenic location to stay, but it is also the perfect base to explore the county of Ceredigion and beautiful places such as Borth and Ynshir.
With something for everyone, activities range from family days out like; the wondrous underground boat trip in King Arthur’s Underground Adventure, the natural beauty of a coastal walk on the Borth beach or watching Ospreys feed in a natural habitat, to sporting experiences such as having a round of Golf at one of the oldest courses in Wales at Borth Golf Club or horse riding lessons at Rheidol Riding Centre.

Borth is a charming coastal town in Ceredigion and is part of the Dyfi Biosphere – the only UNESCO Biosphere reserve in Wales!
Borth is famous for its Blue Flag Beach – which has over 3 miles of golden sandy beaches. The panoramic views from here are breathtaking!
Borth attracts many families from all over the UK. It is also a popular spot for surfers in the summer months.
The small town has a fantastic range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs which also makes it a popular stop for avid hikers and nature enthusiasts on the Wales Coast Path which passes through the town.
Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club

Set on the sweep of Cardigan Bay, Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club is one of the oldest courses in Wales.
The club was established back in 1885 and the course was redesigned in 1947 to create what you see today.
A links golf course that provides a challenging yet fantastic experience all year round, the club are regularly praised for its incredibly high standard of maintenance – regardless of the season.
After a round, the clubhouse offers spectacular views over the whole course so golfers can sit back and relax with a drink or food as you discuss your round.
If you need new equipment, the Pro Shop is well-stocked with new golf clubs and gear as well as a great place to hire buggies and electric trollies.
For permanent guests, Borth’s annual membership rates are reasonable with promotional rates for your 1st year and 2nd year subscriptions.
If you are just looking for a casual round, then we do suggest pre-booking especially if equipment hire is needed.
Riding Lessons at Rheidol Riding Centre

A British Horse Society approved centre for riding and training, Rheidol Riding Centre is a very highly-rated and respected riding school in Mid Wales.
Boasting phenomenal facilities such as full-size floodlit indoor and outdoor arenas, a showjumping course, a cross-country course, and hacking/trekking routes – it really is an equestrian lovers’ dream.
A breathtaking location, Rheidol Riding Centre is situated in the Rheidol Valley, just 4 miles from Aberystwyth and a 20-25 minute drive from Tŷ Mawr Caravan Park and Campsite.
Easy to find, the centre has the River Rheidol on one side and the Rheidol Railway on the other.
Open to the public 6 days a week, Rheiddol offers group and Individual lessons for both children and adults.
All types of leisure riding are offered from ½ hour lead rein for the younger ones on quiet ponies, through to more exciting one and two-hour hacks for competent riders.
Red Kite Feeding Station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian

Watch the magnificently graceful Red Kite bird being fed at Bwlch Nant yr Arain feeding station.
A breathtaking opportunity that has been around since 1999. The programme was designed to protect the small number of Red Kites that were around back then.
A resounding success, the programme has been highly praised for helping the Red Kites make a remarkable comeback from the brink of extinction in the UK.
They are fed by the lake every day at 2 pm in the Winter and 3 pm in the Summer, where you can expect to see up to 150 Red Kites swooping in to pick up a bite.
There is outside seating next to the cafe which has views towards the lake and the feeding area. Bring your binoculars if you want to view from here.
If the weather is bad, you can also view the feeding from inside the cafe.
The best part of the Red Kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian is that it is a completely free activity – so we definitely recommend you make time to visit!
Animalarium Borth

A family-friendly animal sanctuary that is set on a 12-acre site that provides a safe and welcoming home for both domestic and farm animals. The Animalarium specialises in giving a home and safe sanctuary to unwanted or abandoned animals.
You can see a wide range of animals including pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
A perfect day out for all the family, you can meet the animals, feed them and pet them whilst learning facts and asking questions to the animal carers.
There is also an on-site cafe for a bite to eat, gift shops for souvenirs and a playground, making it the perfect place to spend a full day out and about.
At the time of writing, admissions cost £9 for adults, £6.50 for children aged between 3-15, under 3’s free and £7.50 for concessions.
Borth Animalarium is also a dog-friendly attraction in Mid Wales, as well as having wheelchair access throughout.
RSPB Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve

Located within the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve is a mixture of oak woods, pools and saltmarsh with 5 viewing hides and over 3 miles of rugged trails to explore alongside stunning panoramic views.
The reserve covers an area of 800 hectares containing some important wildlife sites that regularly feature in BBC2’s Springwatch show.
The team of wardens and volunteers at RSPB Ynys-Hir carefully manage these habitats to restore conifer plantations into an active peat bog habitat.
It is the perfect day out for nature lovers and families wishing to discover their wild side.
At the time of writing, prices are £6 per adult and £3 for children with combined family tickets also available at just £12.
The entirety of the Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve is wheelchair accessible and it is important to note that the reserve only allows assistance dogs.
King Arthur’s Labyrinth

King Arthur’s Labyrinth is an underground storytelling adventure and fun day out for the whole family.
Expect to be sailed through a magical waterfall and deep into the mountains of Southern Snowdonia to a land of legends. As you discover one of the very few underground experiences available in Wales.
After the boat ride, enjoy a guided walk through the mystical labyrinth as you learn more about ‘The Mabinogion’ – a collection of ancient Welsh legends and tales.
A great day out on a rainy day, as you keep dry in the underground tunnels and a perfect place to hide from the heat as the caves keep you cool.

Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway

See 12 miles of stunning Welsh scenery on one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the UK.
Travel behind a vintage steam locomotive that was built in the 1920s and go back in time as you travel by narrow gauge steam train from Aberystwyth to the famous Devil’s Bridge waterfalls.
Looking to make the experience more unique? During the school holidays, you can even try driving one of the steam locomotives to create memories you will never forget!
As an added extra, you can also treat yourself and pop into the award-winning Sarah Bunton’s Chocolate Shop located close to the Devil’s Bridge station.
At the time of writing, the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway prices start from £35 for an adult return, and £6 for children (aged between 3-15) and children aged 2 & under.
Dogs are welcome on board the trains with a £4 fee for each dog, besides guide dogs ride free of charge.
Dyfi Osprey Project

The Dyfi Osprey Project is a conservation project at the Cors Dyfi Nature Reserve (only 5 miles away from Tŷ Mawr Caravan Park and Campsite).
Here you can watch Ospreys – one of the most magnificent fish-eating birds of prey. A type of bird that was once extinct as a breeding species in the UK.
Now with the help of conservation, they return to the Dyfi Osprey Project every Summer before migrating to West Africa for the Winter.
The Dyfi Osprey Project uses state-of-the-art technology to capture HD footage from the Osprey nests. This is then live-streamed to the high-tech viewing room for you to create an entirely immersive experience.
The site also includes a souvenir shop that helps to fund the project where you can find a wide selection of Osprey-related souvenirs and other beautiful items.
The Dyfi Osprey Project is typically open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, but we recommend checking ahead before travelling. It offers a family-friendly experience, is fully wheelchair accessible, and welcomes guide dogs only.
